Résumé

As a PhD candidate at Georgia Tech, I develop novel turbulence and transition models for rotorcraft applications. My research was recognized three times over the past year, first by two scholarships from the Vertical Flight Foundation (2013 and 2014) and then by the Southern Regional Lichten Award (2014). Prior to my arrival in the USA, I also obtained two Master's degrees from top universities in France and the United-Kingdom. Operating from Atlanta today, I realize that this multicultural background is a great asset for working in such an international environment.

At this point in time, I am looking for a summer internship position at a state-of-the-art rotorcraft company. Such an opportunity would allow me to deepen my understanding of both the subject material and the complex interactions between the worlds of academic research and industry.

Expériences professionnelles

R&d development manager

Dassault Systemes SIMULIA , Johnston

Depuis le 11 avril 2016

Preliminary rotorcraft design (aerodynamic lead engineer)

AMERICAN HELICOPTER SOCIETY

De Octobre 2013 à Juin 2014

Winner of the 31st Annual Student Design Competition sponsored by Agusta Westland:

As part of an international team, designed an experimental VTOL aircraft (the XV-58 Manta) which satisfied the mission requirements (efficient sustained hover, long-range cruise, high useful loads and sustained flight at airspeeds between 300kts and 400kts).

In charge of the aerodynamic design of the concept:

1. Developed a 3D panel code to estimate the aerodynamic performance of arbitrarily shaped flying wings.

2. Combined the panel code with an in-house blended wing body (BWB) generator. A grid search was conducted to select the optimal body shape.

3. Validated the performance of the final concept using advanced CFD methods (Pointwise/Fluent).

Aerodynamic modeling (research intern)

ONERA

De Mai 2011 à Juillet 2011

Worked on micro-air-vehicle (MAV) with insect-like vibrating wings. Optimized a test bench. Developed an analytical aerodynamic model for the wings.

Supervisors: Dr Jean Bernard Paquet and Dr Michel Stanislas

Aerodynamic modeling (research intern)

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT URBANA-CHAMPAIGN

De Juillet 2010 à Août 2010

Built the dynamic model of an aircraft to improve its performance by exploiting real flight data.

Supervisor: Dr Timothy Bretl

Quality control (industrial intern)

AEROLIA (EADS GROUP)

De Janvier 2010 à Février 2010

Worked on quality and environmental surveys on Airbus aircraft.

Formations complémentaires

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Georgia Institute of Technology - Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering

2012 à 2015

Projects on turbulence modeling for wind turbine applications.
Supervisor: Dr. Marilyn Smith

Currently developing my own structured finite volume CFD solver. The following features have already been implemented:
- 2D compressible unsteady Navier-Stokes equations.
- Explicit scheme: 4th order Hyrbrid Runge-Kutta with implicit residual smoothing
- Implicit scheme: LU-SGS
- Dual-time-stepping for 2nd order accuracy in time (BDF2)
- Convective fluxes: Roe's flux difference splitting or 2nd order central differences with artificial dissipation (JT scheme)
- Viscous fluxes: 2nd order central differences
- Spatial reconstruction: Van Leer's MUSCL
- Turbulence: tightly coupled RANS models (SA, kw-SST). DES capability
- Moving grid capability (rigid translations/rotations)
- Various boundary conditions (wall, farfield, inlet/outlet, ...)

Master of Science (MSc)

Cranfield University - Aerospace Dynamics

2011 à 2012

- Courses in theoretical and experimental fluid dynamics.

- Flight tests onboard a BAE Jetstream 31. Evaluation of the aerodynamic performance and stability of the aircraft.

- Master's thesis: Computational 3D Modeling of propeller effects on the boundary layer of a Dornier Do-228 (part of the European project "Advance In-Flight Measurement Techniques II")

Supervisor: Dr Nicholas Lawson

Master of Science (MS)

Ecole centrale de Lille - Engineering Sciences

2009 à 2011

- Courses in mechanics, electronics and management.

- Developed a new conservation system for quality wines. Led a seven-student team and delivered a functional prototype to the client company (PROTEXIO) within time limits.
